Neal S. Grunstra, Ph.D (President & Founder)
NEAL S. GRUNSTRA, Ph.D., founded Mindbank Consulting Group in 1986 and has developed the company to sales revenues close to $40 million in 2001. Mindbank provides technical workforce solutions through high quality technical staffing. Offices are in Reston, VA, Golden, CO and Columbia, MD. Mindbank clients include leading Fortune 500 companies and systems integration providers.

Prior to Mindbank, Dr. Grunstra successfully developed a multi-city data processing consulting firm, Omega Systems, Inc., from start-up to over $5 million in revenues. Like Mindbank’s growth and expansion, this was achieved entirely through retained earnings without the use of outside venture capital. In 1985, Dr. Grunstra successfully completed negotiations for the sale of this highly profitable company to a group of investors.

Dr. Grunstra has extensive technical experience. He has supervised major consulting assignments for over 50 of the Fortune 500 companies and has developed significant knowledge of the issues that are critical to top information systems management of large corporations. Dr. Grunstra has detailed experience in nearly all aspects of corporate data processing including telecommunications systems, database management systems, CASE technologies, mainframe, mini and microcomputer applications as well as expertise in the development of most major business software systems.
Prior to starting Omega Systems in 1975, Dr. Grunstra was Director of Management Information Systems for the University of Pittsburgh and Data Processing Manager for Booz-Allen & Hamilton where he directed the EDP consulting activities for this international consulting firm.

Dr. Grunstra has a Ph.D. in Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, an M.A. in Economics from Duquesne University, and a B.S. in Business Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Additionally, Dr. Grunstra attended graduate studies under scholarship at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

A commencement speaker at George Mason University, Dr. Grunstra is a guest lecturer for graduate-level courses and management seminars. Currently, he writes and speaks on the issues and challenges of technical workforce shortages and on career opportunities for new entrants to the workforce. He has authored several articles on a wide range of technical and administrative subjects including project management, personnel administration, local area networks (LANs), data communications, information retrieval, and database management systems.

Dr. Grunstra serves on the Board of Directors of the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, the Northern Virginia Technology Council and The Tower Club. He is a member of the advisory committee of The Next Generation Fund, L.L.C., a regional fund to grow and support new technology ventures. Nationally, he is a member of the National Association of Computer Consulting Businesses and the Executive Network.

In addition, Neal Grunstra has been known to perform magic acts at the drop of a hat.
